Rooibos Swaziland
Just as Swaziland is ruled by king Mswati III., this loose-leaf tea is ruled by rooibos. It's no coincidence that we chose the smallest country in South Africa to name this tea; it's as colorful, wild and untamed as our mix of fruits, nuts and herbs. It might seem that mango and marigold or pineapple and peppermint are strange combos, but the opposite is true. Trust us on this!
Ingredients
64 % Rooibos, Candied pineapple (pineapple, sugar), Candied mango (mango, sugar), Apple, Hazelnut leaves, Natural aroma, Sour cherries, Sunflower, Rose petals, Rose Hip peel, Mallow flowers, Marigold flower, PeppermintBrew & Taste
This distinctive South African drink is the color of the setting sun. The infusion of Rooibos Swaziland tea is deep orange with a yellow shimmer. The aroma is citrus-y with an herbal background, while the flavor has a range of elements – from the sweet-ish base of rooibos to the delicate trace of exotic fruit and finally the light finish of peppermint. Because rooibos is naturally caffeine-free, it is perfect as a drink for small children, nursing and pregnant women and people in recovery.
Don't forget to try Rooibos Swasiland as an iced tea. You might be surprised by the pleasantly refreshing experience.
Origins
Rooibos, while quite classified as tea, entered the tea market with proper ease. It's one of the extremely popular "tea" type drinks harvested exclusively in South Africa, about 250km from Cape Town, where wild Cape tea bushes grow. Because they are very demanding in terms of humidity, altitude and soil conditions, it is almost impossible to grow them anywhere else in the world. The shrubs are cut back each autumn to about 35cm in length, and the whole branches and leaves are chopped into small pieces. These are left to ferment naturally in large piles and then dried in direct sunlight. The needle-like leaves change color from green to a reddish brown, and then they are sorted and packaged.
The remaining ingredients for this tea are sourced from certified suppliers in the EU. This ensures that the fruits, herbs and nuts are from controlled agriculture and do not contain heavy metals or any other harmful substances. The fruit is preserved by freeze-drying, which preserves the taste, color and aroma of fresh fruit.
