Origins
Black tea became known worldwide in the mid-17th century. With the progression of ship transport, its fame spread quickly in England and then throughout the whole of Europe. The largest producers of black tea are India, China, Kenya and Sri Lanka. This popular drink is available in many variations based on the length of oxidation or the shape of the leaves. Black teas are made from Chinese tea trees, which can be harvested once or several times a year. The leaves and buds are left to wilt by the workers, then processed by hand or machine (rolling, bottling, chopping), and the tea is left to oxidize (not ferment) under strictly controlled temperature and humidity. Once the oxidation has reached the desired level, the tea is dried. Finally, it needs to be sorted and packaged.
Long-standing debates about the health benefits of black tea have resulted in one conclusion: high-quality tea contains beneficial antioxidants, vitamins and minerals as well as caffeine. Sipping it can prevent many ailments and refresh the mind and body.
There is no doubt about the benefits of one other ingredient too. Pineapple, an exotic fruit also available in Europe, is well-known mainly for its content of bromelin, an enzyme that promotes digestion and fat breakdown. It grows in the low rosettes of pineapple plants. These are native to the tropics of South America, but today the largest producers of pineapples are Thailand, the Philippines and Brazil.
Finally, cinnamon is what gives the Moment of Harmony tea its desired spiciness. It is harvested from cinnamon trees which grow in Sri Lanka (Ceylon cinnamon tree) or China and Indonesia (Chinese cinnamon tree). The aromatic spice is famous for its pleasant cinnamaldehyde. It stimulates the appetite and refreshes.
