Ingredients
Green tea, Globe amaranth flowersBrew & Taste
When brewed, the Lovers' Bloom produces a pale yellow drink. Its aroma is soft, delicate and floral, and the taste is just as light and mild. The trace of green tea adds a pleasant astringency and sweetness.
Origins
The tradition of tying tea leaves and colored flowers into balls originated in China. Nobody is sure how long the practice of tying these artisanal teas dates back. But we're sure they've been imported into Europe from the middle of the 20th century. Their popularity is gradually growing and they are a beautiful gift for lovers of nature and good tea.
The production of blooming or flowering tea is done entirely by hand. It requires considerable skill and experience. Green and white tea leaves with various colorful flowers are tied with a thin thread. When the tea is covered with water, the leaves loosen and open up, reminiscent of an actual flower in bloom. The most popular flowers are jasmine, marigold, chrysanthemum, as well as osmanthus or the globe amaranth flower.
Globe amaranth is a 30cm tall annual plant native to tropical and subtropical regions of America. It is grown for its flowers and often dried and used in arrangements. It is grown in several cultivars which bloom either in white, pink, purple or violet. In the Lovers' Bloom tea, we've used a soft pink globe amaranth.
In a 100g package you will find up to 15 balls of flowering tea. They are a popular gift for both ladies and gentlemen. The sight of tea blooming is a truly extraordinary experience. In China there are competitions and parades of blooming teas. True masters can mold the tea into the most incredible blossoms.
