Benefits of blue tea Clitoria ternatea
You only look at this tea, and you feel better. Bell Vine, Butterfly Pea or Asian Dove Wings. These are all names for tea made from the Clitoria ternatea plant, although its name will probably remind you of something else entirely.
Clitoria ternatea is one of the main flowers of Ayurveda. It is one of the four most important plants for the health of our brains according to this traditional Indian medicine. But it is also recognised for its benefits in Chinese folk medicine. It is native to Asia, where this climbing flower is widely used as an ornamental element in gardens.
It has large, beautifully coloured flowers, the shape of which is probably behind its unusual name. The flowers are often used in dishes as an edible decoration, but the leaves, stems, and roots are used in medicine.
Recently, the dried flowers have come to us and are used to make an infusion of an astonishing blue colour. This relatively rare beverage can change its appearance depending on the ingredients you add to it. We recommend trying it with lemon or mint, for instance, and it is also great as a summer refreshment.
