Ingredients
Ceylon "Idulgashinna" Blue Nettle BIO 100%Brew & Taste
The tea's infusion is slightly golden after the first steeping, and with further infusing, it acquires beautiful honey tones. The honey makes its aroma and taste pleasantly sweet and delicate.
Origins
In the southeast of Sri Lanka lies the second least populated province, Uva. And as it happens, the fewer the people, the more beautiful and untouched nature. The area around the town of Idulgashinna has many spellbounding waterfalls and national parks. The local tea garden makes full use of the natural potential and follows the trend of biodynamic cultivation. The main pillars are an ecological mindset, an organic approach, and a fair trade philosophy.
Oolong Blue Nettle is probably the greatest pride of the local producers. You'll know this is no ordinary tea just by taking in the aroma. And it doesn't exactly feel like ordinary tea to the touch, either. When you open the bag you're in for a surprise. You carefully pull out something resembling a short, rather heavy cigar. Now all that's left is for you to cover it with hot water and enjoy.
Sri Lankan oolong is harvested entirely by hand, and what makes it truly rare is the double drying. At the beginning of the process, the leaves are left to dry naturally for a period of time, then re-hydrated and hand-rolled very tightly into a shape that resembles a cigar. This bundle is then allowed to oxidize again, and a second, final drying process occurs.
The process itself is very complex, which is why Blue Nettle is only available in limited quantities on the market each year. The bundled leaves are somewhat deceptive in their weight. Compared to regular loose tea, it seems that you can find fewer of them in a packet. However, know that you can make several infusions from one roll, and each one will bring a new and unique experience. Tea connoisseurs also recommend trying a cold brew, which brings out the hidden citrus notes of this rarity.
