Origins
All it takes is 4 ingredients, a drop of natural aroma, and you've got a delicious tea! All the ingredients in the Candied Almonds blend come from trusted European suppliers. Regular quality checks on their products as well as storage and transport inspections guarantee the highest quality and the utmost care. When it comes to the natural aroma mentioned above, we have relied on a premium product made from substances of natural origin. Why did we add it to the mixture when it tastes and smells so wonderful on its own? Because thanks to the natural aroma, it retains its taste and smell for much longer. Until you reach the bottom of the bag and order more Candied Almonds. The natural aroma doesn't cause heartburn or other health problems, and there's really only a very small amount of it in the mix.
Are almonds nuts or not? They are commonly found in stores alongside hazelnuts or walnuts. But almonds, botanically are not nuts. They are the kernels of the fruit of the almond tree (Prunus dulcis), a subtropical tree related to peaches, for example. It is a shrub or tree plant, usually growing up to 5m, which produces beautiful, large, white-pink flowers. The fruit of the almond tree is a green, hairy drupe. Each fruit contains a perforated stone with a seed – the almond. Almonds are certainly most in demand around Christmas time, when they are used in the preparation of various sweets. They are also used to make marzipan and the popular liqueur amaretto. As well as amygdalin, which is poisonous in higher doses, almonds contain vitamin B, vitamin B2 and vitamin E, and are also rich in calcium, iron, potassium and folic acid.
The other major ingredient in the Candied Almonds tea blend is cinnamon. This is the bark of the cinnamon tree (Cinnamomum verum), an evergreen tree growing up to 10m. Its original habitat is in Sri Lanka, but today cinnamon trees also grow in India and Java. The bark peeled from the young branches of the cinnamon tree is one of the most popular (and probably the oldest) spices in the world. Not only does it taste great, but it is also a source of vitamin A, potassium, calcium and a number of powerful antioxidants.
