Origins
We didn't choose the name Autumn Rainat random. The flavor really drives away the gloom from the weather and its aroma delights every nose. And we've used the highest quality ingredients to create this tea, with select herbs, spices and fruits. They come from verified European suppliers, are regularly tested and extremely carefully harvested, processed, packed and transported.
The most prominent role in the taste of this herbal blend is played by aniseed and fennel, which, in combination with apples and elderberries, guarantee a truly pleasant composition. Let's talk about them briefly.
Aniseed is the fruit of the herb anise (Pimpinella anisum). We've been using it as a spice and much more since all the way back in the ancient times. It's characterized by its distinctive aroma and sweet, spicy taste. It contains the essential oil anethole, which is 13 times sweeter than sugar. If you have ever tried ouzo (an aniseed-based alcoholic drink, especially popular in Greece), you may know that when you add water to it, it produces a smooth, milky emulsion. This is caused by anethole. What does aniseed look like? It's an annual herb that looks a bit like cumin. It can be up to 50cm tall, has rounded and toothed leaves, blooms white and is incredibly fragrant. The approved health benefits of aniseed include its positive effects on normal function of the intestinal tract and respiratory system, nursing and digestion.
Another popular spice found in the tea blend is fennel. The fruit of the fennel plant (Foeniculum vulgare), like anise, has a sweet taste and spicy aroma. The herb grows up to 2m, is very branched and its leaves resemble thin threads. As far as fennel's health benefits are concerned, let's mention, for example, normal digestion and normal respiratory system function, menopausal comfort, and support for immune system and breastfeeding.
You don't need a lengthy explanations of apples. It's one of the most popular parts of our diet and has countless uses, including in the preparation of teas. Apples (i.e. Malus) have an excellent taste and a pleasant aroma and are rich in sodium, calcium or potassium, as well as vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E and B vitamins. Eating apples is beneficial for normal bowel function and weight control.
Similarly, elderberries, the fruit of the elderberry (Sambucus nigra), are popular in not only tea blends. The reason for this is, among other things, the high content of glycosides, carotenes, anthocyanins and vitamin C and vitamin B. The elder shrub itself is easy to recognize – the spreading shrub can be up to 7m tall, has oblong, egg-shaped leaves, blooms white and very profusely, and smells amazing. The fruits are black berries ripening in late summer. Eating them has positive effects on normal respiratory and joint function, weight control, normal blood glucose levels, immunity and excretion.
